THE LONDON WALTZ (fka Valentine Moon)

CHOREOGRAPHER: William Sevone (WM '71) (March 7th 2002) Fremantle, Australia
		email: williamsevone@yahoo.com.au
COUNT: 48 + 12 count Tag
TYPE: 2 Wall Waltz Line Dance
LEVEL: Advanced Beginner
MUSIC: Valentine Moon by Sam Brown-96 bpm (Jools Holland & Friends - 'Small World, Big Band')

Choreographer's note: The arrangement on this piece of music is brilliant, the
singing by Sam(antha) Brown is nothing short of astounding. Then again, anybody
who remembers Sam singing hits like 'Stop' and 'Can I get a witness' back in the
late 1980's knows just how she can sing. Why 'The London Waltz'?, well it could
have been almost anywhere in the world but the fact that the song contains some
'Cockney' rhyming slang..so it seemed appropriate. This dance can be used (minus
the tag) with almost any waltz that has a medium to fast Viennese tempo. I can say
that not many songs 'stir my blood' - but this one certainly does, it's one of
those songs that you can play and play and play and never tire.

Dance note: Within Viennese waltz's the first step is always a 'strong'
step. Within this dance there is one small section where this will not be
the case and is clearly stated. There is also a very small section where
the music 'appears' to slow down (in reality-it doesn't), this happens
when Sam starts to sing in French. Just carry on dancing as normal.

Dance starts on the vocals with feet slightly apart and weight on right

44-45	Turn 1/2 right and step right to right side, Step left in place

TAG:	Only once and after the completion of the first wall, do the following:

2X CROSS-SIDE-STEP WITH EXPRESSION, STEP FORWARD, 1/2 LEFT STEP BACKWARD, STEP, 'SWING' STEPS

1-12	Repeat first 12 counts
(in other words, the second wall starts with the first 12 counts being done
three times - as simple as that)

DANCE FINISH: After count 39 of the 7th wall the music will dramatically
slow down (and gets slower), just carry on with the dance but dance in
time with the piano sounds/notes. You will finish the dance on count 48
with the right hand on the hat brim (hold this position whilst the piano
strikes its final couple of notes). I know that it sounds daunting, but
you only have to hear the music once to know what to do.
